Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education (BOSSE) - Approved by Sikkim Govt.
The Board of Open Schooling & Skill Education, Sikkim Act 2020 was approved by the Sikkim Legislative Assembly stated under Act No.14 of 2020.
BOSSE- Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education
BOSSE, the Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education, Sikkim, is a government-approved board that offers open schooling and skill education programs to students of all levels, from secondary to pre-degree. BOSSE Approved by Government of Sikkim
The Government of Sikkim, through Gazette notification (Act No. 14 of 2020), authorized BOSSE to provide education at Secondary/Senior Secondary and Skill & Vocational levels through various modes of learning. Some of the salient features of BOSSE are:

- Transfer of credits up to 2 subjects passed from other boards
- Offer of 100+ vocational courses
BOSSE aims to strengthen the schooling education across the nation by providing a variety of learning options to students. The board's flexible education system allows students to learn at their own pace and in their own way. BOSSE also offers a combination of academic and vocational subjects, which prepares students for both the workforce and higher education. In addition, BOSSE provides digital support through the SWAYAM platform, which gives students access to online courses and resources. BOSSE- valid for Higher Studies and Government Jobs
The Government of Sikkim, through its Gazette notification no. 14/LD/2020 dated 07-10-2020, has authorized the Board of Open Schooling & Skill Education, Sikkim (BOSSE) to conduct and certify examinations for Secondary/Senior Secondary and Skill & Vocational education. The certificates awarded by BOSSE for these examinations are valid for higher studies and government jobs, as they are recognized by the State Government of Sikkim.

- The Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education (BOSSE) was established by the Government of Sikkim in 2020.
- NIOS has recognized BOSSE as a legitimate board.
- AIU has granted equivalency status to BOSSE and recognized its certificates for further studies.
- BOSSE has received a letter of appreciation from M. Venkaiah Naidu, the Vice President of India.
- Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh, the Governor of Uttarakhand, has expressed his appreciation for BOSSE.

- Biswabhusan Harichandan, the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, has praised BOSSE for its constructive employment-oriented and academic curriculum.
- Om Birla, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, India, has congratulated BOSSE for providing illustrious skill-based education.
- Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, the Minister of Education of the Government of India, has sent a message to BOSSE.
- Shri G. P. Upadhyaya, IAS, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department of the Government of Sikkim, has sent a message to BOSSE.
Level of Programmes by BOSSE
Secondary Level Programme
The Secondary level is equal to the Xth Standard. Students who are 14 Years of age as on 31st August 2020 can take admission in Xth Standard and able to choose subjects as per the BOSSE Scheme.
Senior Secondary Level Programme
Senior Secondary Level Programme is equal to the 12th Standard. Students who were 16 years of age as on 31 August 2020 are able to take admission in BOSSE. The certification provided by BOSSE are equivalent same to any other recognised board available in the country like CBSE, NIOS, CISE as well as the Open Board Schooling and State Level Board.
